To assist you in your search for a home we've compiled a checklist of things to keep in mind as you begin the search process and, ultimately, the purchase of a home.

1. Get pre-approved for a mortgage

If you're preapproved for a mortgage, you'll know how much home you can afford and set your search criteria accordingly. You'll also be able to eliminate financing as a condition on any offers you submit, thus giving you a competitive advantage over other potential buyers and leaving the vendors a comfort level that you're serious buyers.

2. Find an Agent that you Trust

Choose an agent with a professional, well-rounded background. The relationship should be based on trust, mutual goals (to get the house that best suits your needs!) and understanding.

3. Determine your housing needs & wants

For example, square footage, number of bedrooms, number of bathrooms,garage or basement for storage needs, proximity to a particular school district, wood floors, swimming pool, etc. The goal is to to find a house that includes all of your needs and as many as your wants as is practical--yet remains in your budget.

4. Familiarize yourself with the housing market

By reading local real estate ads or visiting real estate website, you'll be able to understand the pricing structures in the area your searching in and determine what type of house in what neighborhood and price range to expect. We can also help by including you in our Home Search program.
